Area 10's story began on September 21, 2008.

We get our name, Area 10,  from the designation realtors give to downtown Richmond. Area 10 extends from Church Hill to the east, through downtown and out to Carytown, and the Museum District to the west. It's an extremely diverse area in terms of race, income, education and lifestyle. Although folks come from all over the city and surrounding counties, Area 10 is our home base and the focus of our mission.

Area 10 is an independent Christian church that was planted through the partnership of Waypoint Church Partners and other area churches.

While Area 10's background is in the Christian Church, our church body is made up of people from many denominations. Whether you're Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal, Lutheran, Atheist... whatever your background is, know that there is probably someone else from that same background sitting just a few rows away from you. We want to value Jesus and His Word above all things. As Augustine once said, "In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, love."

From day one, Area 10 Faith Community has been committed the transforming lives in the city, for the city. We believe that Jesus is the light of the world, and that being in relationship with him makes us better people. We haven’t always said it the exact same way, but our mission as a church has consistently been to help you connect to God, find your people, and change the world.
