04.11.21 - Stick Together

There are a lot of forces pulling us in different directions. Politics, social issues, work, family, church: it seems that everywhere we look, something competes for our time, money, and energy. How can we hold it together under so much pressure? In Paul’s first letter to the church in Corinth, he writes to a church that looks very similar to the American church. They were having a tough time keeping themselves (or the church) together. Sound familiar? Join us to hear some wisdom from God on how to steady our chaotic lives.

03.28.21 - Key Change (Decision)

Every so often in life, a line gets drawn for us in the sand. We face a do-or-die kind of moment where we are asked to make a choice. God gives us those kinds of moments also: He gives us opportunities to shift our way of being and kick it up a notch. In this message, we will look at how the ancient Israelites were given that kind of opportunity from God and we will learn about some ways we can respond to God’s call.

03.21.21 - Falling Flat (Confession)

What a person does when they make a mistake can tell you a lot about their character. Do they try and cover up the error, or do they own up to it and try to make amends? Confession is an essential part of the Christian life, but what does it actually mean? What does the process actually look like? And how does it actually help us? In this message, we look at the value of confession and the honest change it brings to our lives.

03.14.21 - Ovation (Worship)

One of the things most missing from culture in the past year has been large crowds gathered for concerts and sporting events. Many of us love to gather with a crowd and cheer or sing along. But what does that say about us? Perhaps there is something deeper going on in us when we come together like that in a crowd. What if it’s a form of worship? In this message, we will look at what worship is and how it helps shape and form our souls.

02.07.21 - Finish Strong

Our faith journey is a marathon - not a sprint. Over the course of our lives we will have highs, lows, challenges, and moments where we want to quit. How do we build a faith that lasts a lifetime? In this message, we will talk about how Jesus calls us to a lifetime of faithfulness and how to get there.

01.31.21 - Play The Long Game

The world has taken some bizarre financial turns over the last year. High unemployment, crazy stock market changes, and uncertainty have made many people re-examine their financial priorities. The challenge for us is that how we spend money reflects not just our wallets but our hearts. In this message, we will have a heart to heart talk about money and how Jesus taught us about how money can push us to our "quit line" like almost nothing else.

01.10.21 - Find a Pacing Partner

When we pursue any challenging endeavor that is worth doing, we get tempted to quit. Somewhere during the race, we want to walk away. But the truth is there are almost always other runners besides us who can encourage us to keep going. In this message, we will look at an ancient text from the book of Hebrews and look at the author's encouragement to link up with brothers and sisters on the journey.

01.03.21 - Remember Your Training

The new year is here, and this one feels different than all the others. Rather than make goals and resolutions, it seems many people are ready to quit things— jobs, relationships, churches, God. In this series, called "The Quit Line," we will talk to everyone who feels like throwing in the towel, and we are going to look at some ways to keep going in our journey of faith.

12.24.20 - Son of God, Son of Man

For everyone unable to join us at the Byrd for our live Christmas Eve service this evening, we still wanted to celebrate with you and your family, so we pre-recorded a version for you to enjoy whenever and wherever you can. This link will officially go LIVE at 5pm. This year has been a rough one for us all, but it has also drawn us together in new ways and challenged us as a faith community to try new things. Thank you for your support as we continue to transform lives in the city, for the city. And a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!

12.20.20 - Humble Beginnings (Ch 13)

The road to Christmas leads to Bethlehem, where Mary gives birth to Jesus. But before that happens, she sings about how God has worked in her life. In this message, we will look at that song and see what we can learn from it for our time. What does humility look like for Mary? What should it look like for us today?

12.13.20 - Moses 2.0 (Ch 6)

Almost no figure looms larger over the history of Israel than Moses. He was God’s chosen leader and prophet. When Jesus is born, there is some talk that He is actually a greater prophet than Moses. In this message, we will look at this idea and take a deep dive into the concept of truth, which is very relevant to our culture of fake news.

12.06.20 - Return of the King (Ch 8)

We often refer to as the King of kings, but a Jewish carpenter from a rural town in northern Israel who mostly taught and healed people hardly seems like a king. What does it mean that Jesus was a king? And what does it mean now that the King of the universe has come? In this message, we will look at the kingship of Jesus and talk about how it matters even today in a time of political unrest.
