Empowered to Connect, Week 3

  • Area 10 Faith Community 2810 W. Cary St RVA (map)

Empowered to Connect (ETC) is a parenting class designed to help parents find support and skills to build strong, healthy families!

There are seasons of parenting that are overwhelming and leave us weary. Cultivate Connection provides the community and support you need, right where you are. You’ll have space to breathe, find some joy, and feel more empowered to meet daily challenges.

This class, led by Patrick and Katherine Leahey, is designed to equip biological, adoptive, foster parents, and guardians with helpful tools to navigate difficult parenting situations. Empowered to Connect (ETC) has developed attachment-rich, trauma-informed, and healing-centered resources that inform better care practices, prioritizing root causes and community support. At every level, ETC journeys alongside families and communities toward greater healing and hope. Limited parking will be available on-site and childcare will be provided.

This 8-week class begins Sunday, February 26th from 1-4pm, but the schedule changes slightly as it goes along.

Our Richmond schedule is as follows:
Sunday, February 26 from 1:00-4:00
Sunday, March 5 from 1:00-3:00
Sunday, March 12 from 1:00-3:00

HELP SUPPORT THESE FAMILIES:

Want to help? Volunteer to provide childcare for these parenting enrichment classes for biological, adoptive, and foster families.

If you are interested in helping support parents and guardians who are equipping themselves to become better caregivers, you can help us to provide childcare for the Empowered to Connect class (listed above). Our goal is to create a list of potential childcare sitters to work together to provide a safe environment for kids while their parents learn new techniques for trauma-informed care.

To be clear, you are not signing up to help with every meeting time, but to be one of the adults that we can reach out to in order to help provide coverage for all eight weeks. Class meeting times will either begin on Sunday afternoons (1-4 pm) and switch to Monday evenings (6-8 pm) after Easter.
